In our house cousin Ben holds the award for masterful fort building. Today he built a massive one down stairs spanning across the couch and connecting to the window seat and covering the entire family room. This picture was taken half way through the process so it was really pretty big in the end. Ben is always patient and mellow letting the cousins assist in the building.
Instead of leaving it up for a few hours today I told them that they could leave it up for a half hour once it was completed. Of course, after the construction was done they only played in it for 15 minutes before deciding to compile all the blankets and pillows onto the floor at the foot of our bed for a cushioned jumping pad. Making the time limit made it easier for everyone to focus on the actual clean up part of the fort fun before getting totally distracted with something new. Why hadn't I thought of this before? I think the best part of forts is trying to figure out how to make it all work anyway.
