I am terrible about staying after school and taking Mary into the library to take an AR test. It is difficult enough just hauling all the kids into the school for pick ups. I don't know how mothers take their kids on a regular basis. To become an Indepedent Reader at MRE you have to be able to read 3 books independently (not too difficult) and earn 10 AR points. Mary finally crossed that mark this month and achieved this award today.
I appreciate Mrs. Telford's perspective on the subject as she tells me that children her age should actually be earning this award about now. When you really think about it...reading is the most important part of this program and whether or not they get tested on what they read, the fact that they are doing it is awesome. And now Mary will be doing it with this cute t-shirt on.
Way to go Mary!
